James Bond Watch Party

Virus. Corona Virus. Wait, no! I’ve been stuck at home for way too long, I meant to say what Mr. Handsome above is saying. Welcome to Cuppa’s James Bond Re/Initial watch party.

I’ve been wanting to do a re/initial watch of all the Bond films for quite a while and what better time than when I’m stuck at home for who knows how long! It’s going on month seven so far and I’m thinking I won’t be off telecommuting until next spring at the earliest. So I have plenty of time on my hands to refamiliarize myself with the world of Bond, all in preparation for the latest film in the series (#25), No Time to Die, if it doesn’t get delayed again.

My wife, who is not a Bond fan even in the slightest, will be joining me to watch all these amazing and sometimes awful films. I haven’t seen all of the Bond films, most notably the ones in the 80’s with Timothy Dalton, but I’ve seen most of the other films multiple times throughout my 38 years of existence. I picked up the 50 years of Bond Blu Ray collection from Costco a few years back, which has all the “canon” films except Spectre, in that sweet sweet Blu-Ray format. I will be adding 1983’s Never Say Never Again into our watchlist, which is Connery’s final time playing Bond but not considered official canon as it was made by a different production company. But how can I say no to my favorite Bond, playing the role one final time. I can’t! So we’ll be checking it out even though its not part of the official canon of 25 James Bond films.

What we’ll be doing in this blog is watching each movie, giving our takes on it, then rating it. After we get a few under our belt we’ll start ranking them from our favorite to least favorite as we make our way through the wonderful world of Bond. James Bond. I’ll do individual posts for each of the movies (hyperlinked below on the film list). For some I did extended commentary, but that got tedious pretty quickly so I stopped after the first few, and Ellie usually gives her general feelings on the film and her rating. I rate each movie with PPK’s out of 10 and Ellie uses Martinis out of 10.
